Community Guidelines

Ontaym is a place to actually meet up with people. These guidelines keep it that way.

Be respectful

Treat other users the way you'd want to be treated. Harassment, hate speech, and threats aren't tolerated.

Be genuine

Use your real name and photo, and don't impersonate someone else or create fake accounts.

No spam

Don't use a Meet, its chat, or your profile to push unsolicited promotional links or content, to recruit, or to sell to the people in the room.

Show up, or free the seat

A Meet needs six people to happen at all, and ten is about the size we aim for. When you take a place, other people plan an evening around it - and someone on the waitlist does not get in. Coming is the whole point; if you cannot, cancel as early as you can so the place goes to somebody who will use it. Cancelling early is always fine. Not turning up is what costs other people their evening, and we keep track of it.

A Meet is a room of strangers

Everyone there is meeting the others for the first time, which is the appeal and also the reason to be sensible. Meets are held in public venues and never in anyone's home. Tell a friend where you are going. Arrange your own way home. Nobody is owed your phone number, your address, or a lift.

Do not photograph or record the people at a Meet without asking them, and do not repost the venue and time publicly - a small group only works while it is a small group.

If someone makes you uncomfortable, tell the host, leave, and report it afterwards. You never need a reason to leave. If you feel unsafe, contact the local emergency services first and us second.

Reporting

You can report a user or a meeting from within the app. We review reports and may warn, restrict, or remove accounts that violate these guidelines.
